Tai Chi
The art of Tai Chi (also known at Tai Chi Quan) has been practiced for over 2000 years. Consisting of many different styles, Tai Chi is now practiced around the world by people of all ages, for its health & fitness benefits, as well as for relaxation & mindefulness.
In our Tai Chi & Qi Gong Mediation Classes students learn movements from traditional Yang & Chen Tai Chi Forms, focusing both on physical postures and control of internal life-force energy (Qi).
While many people think Tai Chi is only about self-meditation and flowing movements, it was originally developed for self-defense, and in advanced levels of Tai Chi it can be an exceptionally effective martial art for combat situations. If you wish to learn the martial, combative elements of Tai Chi Quan you should attend both Tai Chi & Qi Gong Classes and our Kung Fu Classes.
Qi Gong Meditation
Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese health care system that integrates physical postures & movement, breathing techniques and focused intention. It is practiced for health maintenance, healing, increasing vitality & strength.
Qi (pronounced chee) is usually translated to mean the life force or energy that flows through all things in the universe. The second word, Gong, translates to mean work or skill that is cultivated through steady practice. Together, Qi Gong means energy work or rather working our life force energy.
As a gentle exercise, Qi Gong composes of movements that are repeated a number of times, often stretching the body. On a physical level Qi Gong practice has been found to improve cardiovascular, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic and digestive functions, as well as bringing balance to the endocrine (hormonal) system. The postures and movements build muscular strength, promote flexibility, while also helping to align the body correctly.
Tai Chi & Qi Gong are practiced to achieve & maintain good all round health, not just healthy, fit bodies, but also calm minds, and an ability to reconnect with spirit. Tai Chi & Qi Gong are two of the few practices or meditation systems that truly bring balance to mind, body & soul.
Private meditation classes are available for individuals or small groups. Please contact us for details.
