Autumn is here!

Autumn has arrived at Wú Yìng Quán School of Kung Fu. In nature and for the martial artist, autumn is about getting rid of what isn’t needed and storing & building on what is. Whether it’s shedding that bad habit or the extra bit of weight that is slowing you down, a dedication to martial arts helps us make positive changes to our lives.

Over the next few weeks take stock of your life and the world around you. Focus your intentions on what you wish to improve on over the winter – physically, emotionally & spiritually – so you can emerge in the spring of 2019 the best version of yourself.

Write down just one or two things about yourself that you wish to shed this autumn. It could be a bad habit, a negative thought process or perhaps its a cupboard of junk you don’t want to carry with you to the new year.

Then write down the things you wish to build on, positive factors in your life that you can make greater with some hard work, some kung fu in the literal sense. Maybe get that run time down, or make your run longer (or both!) Work on relationships with friends or family that may have slipped during the busy year. Or perhaps dedicate more time to that hobby or skill you enjoy, be the best you at whatever you do.

Set small targets and remind yourself of them regularly. Be pleased when you reach them, take pride when you beat them but forgive yourself when you don’t – the race is long and it’s only against yourself.

Don’t forget to take time to look up at the trees, there are only a few weeks to appreciate their gallery of colour.
